‘The Iron Lady’ is a 2011 British biographical film based on the life of Margaret Thatcher, who is portrayed by Meryl Streep. Denis Thatcher is played by Jim Broadbent, with Anthony Head as Geoffrey Howe. Streep's performance earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
In flashback we are shown Thatcher's youth, working in the family grocery store in Grantham, listening to the political speeches of her father. A theme throughout the film is the personal price which Thatcher has paid for power.
The Film Society shows 8 films a year. Annual membership is £10. For non-members there is a nightly membership fee of £2.50 payable at the door.

| As part of the Spring Festival/Jubilee Celebrations, there'll be an Art exhibition in the People's Hall from 10.30 - 16.00. The Social Club bar will be open at lunchtime and the ever-popular Finkel Brothers (from Toft!) will be playing some of their wonderful jazz guitar numbers. |

Toft Social Club was established in November 1999 by residents of the village, in order to replace the void left by the conversion of the village pub into a restaurant.
